Tony Arnold
President & CEO
Tony L. Arnold is president & chief executive officer of The
Solae Company, a joint venture between DuPont and Bunge. During
his tenure at the helm of The Solae Company, the organization has
experienced double digit growth and reached $1 billion in sales
in 2004.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Arnold was vice president of marketing
for the DuPont Agriculture and Nutrition business.
Before that, Mr. Arnold served as group vice president for BASF
Global Agricultural Products and was responsible for global marketing
and business development. He also served as the co-lead during the
integration of the American Cyanamid business.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Arnold served as vice president of global
marketing for American Cyanamid Company, in addition to a variety
of domestic and international roles including marketing, sales,
technical, and management positions during his 19 years of employment.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee, he earned both bachelor’s
and master’s degrees in plant and soil sciences.
Greg Paul, Ph.D.
Director of Health & Nutrition
In 2003, Greg Paul, Ph.D., became director of Health and Nutrition
and for The Solae Company, an alliance between DuPont and Bunge
Limited. As director, Dr. Paul is responsible for overseeing and
guiding The Solae Company’s research program, which includes
supporting research that explores the health benefits of soy. In
his role, Dr. Paul was an instrumental part of the team that examined
and compiled research for a health claim petition linking the consumption
of soy protein-based foods and the reduced risk of developing certain
types of cancer.
Prior to joining The Solae Company, Dr. Paul held the position
of director of nutrition science for Central Soya for several years.
He also was the director of research and development, which included
product, applications and technical development around soy protein
and soy lecithin products. Previously, Dr. Paul spent many years
with Quaker (now a division of PepsiCo, Inc.) as director of clinical
research where he worked to communicate the health benefits of oats
to the marketplace. The 1997 FDA-approved health claim linking the
soluble fiber in oats to a reduced risk of heart disease was an
important message in the company’s communications initiative.
Dr. Paul received a bachelor’s degree in education and a
master’s degree in exercise physiology from Ohio State University.
Dr. Paul went on to earn his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois
–Urbana-Champaign. In 1996, Dr. Paul finished post-doctoral
work in molecular biology. Currently, Dr. Paul is a fellow with
Institute of Food Technologists and the American College of Nutrition.
He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Nutrition and
the American Society for Nutrition Sciences.
Jonathan McIntyre, Ph.D
Vice President of Research and Development
Jonathan McIntyre Ph.D is the vice president of research and development
for The Solae Company. Dr. McIntyre is responsible for research
and development, quality assurance and regulatory affairs. As the
leader of the global R&D team, he plays a critical role in enabling
the company to fulfill its vision of providing innovative soy-based
ingredients that solve the needs of the company’s customers
and consumers.
A well-known research and development professional with experience
in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and nutrition industries, Dr.
McIntyre joined The Solae Company after serving as chief of development
and operations at Auxeris Therapeutics, a discovery stage biopharmaceutical
company developing drugs for bone diseases. Prior to that, he was
chief scientist for Monsanto Protein Technologies, which focused
on contract manufacturing of therapeutic proteins utilizing corn
seed as a production host.
Dr. McIntyre began his career at Monsanto as a discovery scientist
with G.D. Searle’s Cardiovascular Disease Research Group,
where he contributed to the discovery of several clinical candidates.
He was an integral part of Monsanto’s Nutrition Division,
where he held a series of positions, most notably, director of product
development. In that role, Dr. McIntyre led multiple projects including
programs on plant sterols, omega three fatty acids and milk derived
protein-peptide products for managing blood pressure.
A graduate of Grove City College with a bachelor’s degree
in chemistry, he earned his doctorate degree in biochemistry and
completed a post-doctoral fellowship from the University of Cincinnati
College of Medicine.
