SOLAE COMPANY DONATES $5,000 TO LOCAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Memphis, TN (June, 2005) – The Solae Company, a global leader in the research and application of soy protein, has donated $5,000 to Magnolia Elementary School as part of the Memphis City Schools’ Adopt-a-School program.

The partnership between Solae and Magnolia Elementary goes back over twenty years. Magnolia plans to use the money to help construct a circle driveway in front of the school for dropping off and picking up students. “This is a safety improvement Magnolia Elementary has needed but couldn't get funding for” said Mick Sullivan, Solae’s Memphis plant manager. Currently, no such place exists and kids are forced to walk through a parking lot, which can be hazardous during morning and afternoon hours.

“The Adopt-a-School partnership is one of the most rewarding activities we have at the plant,” said Sullivan. “Knowing that our commitment to safety can help Magnolia provide a safer environment for the kids means the world to us.”
The Solae Company’s Memphis plant was given $5,000 for their award winning project that uses landfill gas for operating equipment rather than being released into the atmosphere. The success of the project demonstrates Solae’s commitment to community safety, health and environmental performance by improving air quality and renewable energy usage. The company decided to use those funds to assist Magnolia Elementary School.
