THE SOLAE COMPANY FILES PATENT INFRINGEMENT SUIT
AGAINST ADM, AMERIFIT
Suit Comes as The Solae Company Introduces New Offering of Soy
Isoflavone Concentrates for Developers of Dietary Supplements
ST. LOUIS, June 4, 2003 –The Solae Company today announced
that it has filed a complaint in the District Court of Eastern Missouri
against Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM) and Amerifit Nutrition,
Inc., asserting that ADM’s Novasoy® isoflavone products
and the Estroven® health supplement products marketed by Amerifit
infringe certain patent rights of The Solae Company.
“The Solae Company has spent many years investing in soy isoflavone
concentrates and will aggressively defend its associated intellectual
property portfolio when it is threatened,” said Tony Arnold,
CEO of The Solae Company. “Our soy isoflavone patents are an
extremely valuable corporate asset, and this suit reflects our determination
to protect that value.”
