operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to meet consumer demand for
Solae® brand soy protein.
4 The Solae Company uses a proprietary process to
extract protein from soybeans. Here, two Solae employees carefully
inspect manufacturing equipment to ensure it adheres to the company’s
strict quality and safety standards.
5 Soy protein isolate, a food ingredient that is
90 percent protein on a dry weight basis, can be prepared in many
forms. It is pictured here in a powder form.
6 Naturally high in protein, the soybean has become
the foremost provider of protein and oil in the world. One acre
of soybeans yields approximately 900 pounds of soy protein.
7 More than 6.7 billion bushels of soybeans (402
billion pounds) are harvested around the world each year. The majority
of soybeans are grown in the United States (42%), followed by Brazil
(24%), Argentina (16%) and China (8%).
