ST. LOUIS, March 16, 2012
As evidence of an ongoing commitment to business ethics, Solae, LLC, a joint venture between DuPont and Bunge and a world leader in soy ingredients, has been recognized by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the 2012 World’s Most Ethical (WME) Companies. This is the third consecutive year Solae has been honored by Ethisphere for this prestigious award. Solae is one of only four food and beverage manufacturing companies on the list out of the more than 140 companies worldwide to have received the honor in 2012.
“It is a significant honor for Solae to be recognized as one of the ‘World’s Most Ethical Companies’ for the third consecutive year by the Ethisphere Institute. Highest ethical behavior is one of our four core values, and it is critical to the success of our company and our customers,” said Cornel Fuerer, vice president, general counsel and chief compliance officer, Solae. “As the world’s leader in soy-based ingredients, we strive to provide solutions to help feed a growing global population with nutritious, sustainable and affordable ingredients. It is our responsibility to ensure that our ingredients are safe and of high-quality. To achieve this, integrity must be at the core of everything we do.” Timothy Erblich, executive vice president - Ethisphere Institute, Cindy Morrison, corporate compliance manager - Solae, Cornel Fuerer, VP and general counsel - Solae and Alexander Brigham, executive director - Ethishere Institute.
Out of a record number of nominations for the award, Solae secured a hard-earned spot on the list by implementing upright business practices and initiatives that are instrumental to the company’s success, benefit the community and raise the bar for ethical standards within the food industry.
“Each year the competition for World’s Most Ethical Companies intensifies as the number of nominations submitted for consideration grows,” said Alex Brigham, executive director of Ethisphere. “This year’s winners know that a strong ethics program is a key component to a successful business model, and they continue to scrutinize their ethical standards to keep up with an ever-changing regulatory environment.”
Through in-depth research and a multi-step analysis, Ethisphere reviewed nominations from companies in more than 100 countries and 36 industries. The methodology for the World’s Most Ethical Companies includes reviewing codes of ethics, litigation and regulatory infraction histories; evaluating the investment in innovation and sustainable business practices; looking at activities designed to improve corporate citizenship; and studying nominations from senior executives, industry peers, suppliers and customers.
In 2011, Solae also earned the Ethics Inside™ Certification from Ethisphere, which is awarded exclusively to companies that have implemented adequate standards, systems and programs to reasonably prevent compliance failures and ethical breakdowns, and also can demonstrate the existence of a superior employee and leadership culture that promotes ethical business practices. Solae is one of only 12 companies to receive both Ethics Inside™ Certification and World’s Most Ethical recognition.
